Plan 1 – A Proposed Idea
My initial idea of a chosen event and location is to go on a
trip to London and visit all the main tourist attractions in the area such as
the London Eye, see a West End Theatre Show, Oxford Street for shopping,
National Gallery, Tower of London, Big Ben, Thorpe park and Madam Tusaauds. The
overall aims and objectives of the event/trip is a study visit which will help
students understand and enjoy the various different types of tourist
attractions the biggest and most popular tourist destination in the UK has to
offer. A trip to London will give the opportunity to both educational and
recreational aspects effectively.
I propose that the trip to London will happen in the month of
October as this will allow Students the time to save up the money to go as well
as being at a suitable time in the academic year which doesn't fall near any
major exam periods. Having the trip in October means the trip falls in
Mid-Autumn, which is predominantly an off season time of year in the UK, which
would mean the cost of the trip would be much lower than if we went during the
summer months for example. I propose that we go for a five day trip
Monday-Friday as this will allow students the opportunity and time to
experience all the main attractions in London easily and will leave the
Weekends free for those with other commitments enabling most students to be
able to go on the trip.
The trip I am proposing would be for a relatively small group
of students on the A2 Travel and Tourism course and therefore staffing for the
visit would only need to consist of one male and one female teacher, which
could easily be sorted out. I also propose that the best way to plan the
various attractions we will visit around London during the 5 day trip would be
to use the ‘London Drum City Guide’ which gives you an effective way to See
London in 5 days. Using the London’s specialist Open Top bus tour would also be
an effective method of seeing the main sights and landmarks of London. This
tour also works out cheaper when booking in groups and gives all customers a
free cruise pass on the River Thames through London. Certain attractions like
Museums are also often free of charge.
The main problems with this kind of trip is the cost. This
trip would cost a lot of money and even with College Funding students would
still have to pay a considerable amount of money and therefore may not be able
to afford or save up the money by October. This trip/event would be incredibly
hard and difficult to plan as it would take a lot of scheduling and organising
lots of events separately which could lead to the trip easily going wrong , of schedule
and not to plan. This trip I have proposed would also mean students having to possibly take a week of college which could majorly disrupt there education and
studies as they could miss out on vital work. However if the trip was made
shorter, it wouldn't be worth going as you wouldn't be able to visit most of
the attractions I have proposed. The trip’s relevance to the subject could also
be questioned as many of these activities I have proposed are leisurely not just educational and
therefore probably not worth taking 5 days of college for. There is also the
cost of transport and accommodation to consider with London being around 230 miles away from
Hull and the prices of accommodation in the main tourist areas in London being exceptionally
high compared to the rest of the country.
Overall I feel that this trip would be fun, interesting and beneficial.
However in this case the negatives of the trip such as high prices, scheduling various
events, paying for and finding accommodation and transport, taking time of
college/disrupting vital education and the overall need of the trip not being
essential out way all the positives mentioned about the trip Event. Therefore
overall for this particular travel and tourism project, I feel that this trip
and event I have proposed just would not be feasible.
^^^^Above Shows the Web Page for the 'London Drum City Guide' which shows you the 'best way' to see London in 5 days. I mentioned this in my proposal as it would have been an effective way and method to help organise a Travel and Tourism Trip/Event to London, as it gives great advise and tips on how to scheduled an organise a trip to London over 5 days, shows you the main 'must see' attractions of London and helps you to see the main travel sand tourism sights in London effectively in 5 days, which was one of the purposes of the proposed trip.
Below are images of some of the tourist attractions I proposed to visit as part of this event/trip to the main tourist destinations of London.
^^The London Eye at Night.
^^ Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
^^A West End Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre in the West End of London home to the Phantom of the Opera. (Outside View)
^^A West End Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre in the West End of London home to the Phantom of the Opera. (Inside View)
^^Madame Tussauds in London, the home of life like wax work figures of celebrity's.
^^The famous National Gallery Museum of Art, Loondon which specialises in European Painting 1250-1900.
^^Oxford Street in London, Renowned for its shopping and home to the original Selfidges Store.
From this research and information it is clear that this trip would be an exciting one but it would not be feasible for this project due to the high costs of theatre tickets, travel, accommodation, shopping, tourists attractions, it would disrupt educational studies at college, would be difficult to organise and plan successfully, would be more leisurly than educational and would therefore loose its pupose, its would be hard for students to afford it and would not be relevant enough for the Travel and Tourism Course.
